The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh put on a united front at the European Athletics Championships on Thursday, as their family celebrated an important milestone back home.
Prince Edward and Sophie were among the spectators at the Birmingham event, where they appeared to coordinate their looks in complementary shades of pale blue.
Their sporting outing came on a particularly significant day for their youngest child, James, Earl of Wessex, who received his A-level results.
The 18-year-old has now secured his next step, with Buckingham Palace confirming that he will begin studying Rural Land & Property Management at the Royal Agricultural University.
Edward opted for a blue shirt beneath a smart beige jacket, while Sophie was wearing a pastel patterned shirt.
Buckingham Palace Statement
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “Having achieved the grades he needed, The Earl of Wessex will be going to the Royal Agricultural University to study Rural Land & Property Management.
He will head straight there without taking a year out.”
While James’ individual grades have not been made public, the result ends his time at Radley College in Oxfordshire and the beginning of an academic path closely linked to his family’s longstanding connection with the countryside.
