The Prince and Princess of Wales are understood to be making the most of their summer break this year as their 13-year-old son, Prince George, will be beginning the new phase of his life.
The young prince, who is the second in line to the British throne, will be following in the footsteps of Prince William and Prince Harry by attending Eton College. While the teen would be excited for the step up, there is a much more profound change awaiting him in a matter of weeks.
According to psychologist and school admissions strategist Sarah Suria, George will have the opportunity to discover himself despite having his future mapped out years ago by the Firm.
Sarah pointed about that George is at an age where children really begin asking who they are apart from what they have learned from their parents.
“For George, that’s happening within an extraordinary legacy, where parts of his future have been mapped out long before he could have a say in them,” she told Marie Claire.
She explained that while having a “close-knit home may give a child a secure base”, living away from home “can offer a different kind of growth”.
“Being away asks them to build a larger toolbox for navigating friendships, homesickness, academic demands and everyday setbacks,” she added.
“Independence is rarely built in one grand moment,” she noted. “It develops through small experiences of realising, ‘I can handle this myself.’
“For George, learning to stand on his own while maintaining a strong connection to home and family could be particularly meaningful as he grows into a life that will ask him to carry both his family legacy and a strong sense of who he is.”
