Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seemed to have come to an agreement with the Firm as they make their move back to England six years after leaving.
Reports have claimed that Harry and Meghan may just be staying over in UK for not more than a year but official sources have not confirmed the duration of the “extended period” of their stay.
Despite how long their stay would be, the Sussex team would have to work closely with Buckingham Palace to avoid any conflicts of events. Royal insiders have shared that Palace is left with “little option but to increase contact”, via i Paperreport.
Courtiers have expressed their concerns about increased diary clashes now that Harry and Meghan would be in the same time zone.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will need to work with – and possibly defer to – Buckingham Palace when they move back to the UK later this month after years of frosty relations,” the royal insiders said.
Even though Harry and Meghan are “private individuals undertaking commercial and charity activities”, the media attention would be diverted if a member of the royal family is on engagements.
The sources noted that the Sussexes visiting a charity in Los Angeles may go largely unnoticed, but there will be “far more media attention when they carry out visits in the UK, especially if one of the working Royal Family is doing something similar and possibly trying to communicate a different message”.
Meanwhile, the Prince and Princess of Wales will carry on with their routine “as normal” and “ignore the distraction”.
Harry and Meghan are understood not keen on returning to the same system of pecking order but they will “continue with an agreement to coordinate with the Royal Household as a matter of courtesy, so that both sides can try to deconflict as much as possible”.
Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the matter.
