Undoubtedly, a new chapter for the royal couple begins with their return to the life they once gave up.
Some journalist, known for their closeness to the Sussexes, fear the couple will dominate the news with the same headlines the people have been reading since their departure from royal life in 2020.
Their move is undoubtedly bound to spark questions, with some asking: What brought them back to the “cage” they once celebrated leaving behind?
Will the royal family welcome them with open arms if they rejoin the royal fold? What role might the Duke take on in public life?
Some won’t be wrong to speculate that they struggled in America as the Sussexes’ silence is fueling the talk.
Until they clearly explain this U-turn, or reveal their new strategy, publications and the public will keep guessing, and the rumours and speculation won’t end.
Sharing his thoughts and knowledge about their comeback, the couple’s biographer, Omid Scobie, wrote in his first Substack post: “I was told that California was not intended to be their only base. It was the right home for that chapter of their lives, but their children’s education and evolving priorities would shape what came next — including where they chose to live, and for how long.”
He went on to defend the couple, saying: “I know something about how consuming the media cycle can become because, for a long time, I was inside it too.”
He admitted: “I spent thirteen years covering the royals, but the Sussexes quickly changed the nature of that work. From their wedding onward, the couple became a focal point for debates that often had little to do with what was actually happening.”
He also shared a piece of advice for the couple as they begin this new chapter in England, asking them to “resist the urge to respond to every inaccuracy this time around.”
He explained, “When a narrative has already been established across the media ecosystem, new information is rarely enough to change it. You cannot fact-check your way out of a culture war.”
“Fixed narratives don’t resist change.”
