The charitable fortunes of the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have taken sharply different paths.
The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly received £19.6 million in income in 2025, with its American Friends branch alone contributing £8.7 million.
The figures show the growing support William and Catherine have attracted from across the Atlantic, with American donors now playing a significant role in backing the couple’s charitable work.
The American Friends organisation, which was established in 2011 as a separately controlled entity, provided a substantial increase compared with the previous year, when it contributed £4.9 million.
During the year, the Royal Foundation invested £16.5 million into its programmes and held £10.6 million in reserves at the end of December. Its expanding operations also saw staff numbers rise from 67 to 80, with employment costs reaching £6.4 million.
The foundation continues to support some of the couple’s biggest causes, including Catherine’s early childhood initiative, William’s Homewards programme to tackle homelessness, and United for Wildlife, which works to combat illegal wildlife trafficking.
The latest figures come as Prince William and Princess Catherine continue to increase their public focus on long-term projects, with the pair using royal engagements to highlight issues close to their hearts.
Catherine has repeatedly championed the importance of children’s early development, while William has travelled widely to promote environmental and social causes.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell organisation has reported a significant drop in income.
The charity recorded £1.93 million in revenue in 2024, compared with £4.23 million the previous year.
The Sussexes’ philanthropic arm, Archewell Philanthropies, is now undergoing a restructuring process after staff redundancies in December as the couple look to streamline operations and expand their global charitable work.
When Harry and Meghan launched Archewell after stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and moving to California, there was widespread speculation that their network of influential contacts in the US could help attract major donations.
But, the organisation’s latest accounts show a decline in fundraising.
