Prince William issued an important, long statement to shed light on alarming climate issues, side by side dealing with Prince Harry ‘UK choas.’
Writing for The Independent, the founder of the Earthshot Prize called for urgent action to prevent disasters costing innocent lives and damaging the environment.
In his personal essay, he wrote, “This summer’s wildfires have been devastating. The damage they have caused has been, frankly, alarming.
“We are deeply grateful to the brave fire and emergency service crews, farmers and local responders who have been battling the fires, and to the NHS staff, local communities and others supporting those affected.”
William said now the priority for many across the world is to recover and rebuild. However, these fires are indeed a “powerful reminder” about the future risks as the climate is getting warmer with each passing day.
“Less visible is the huge amount of work already underway to address those risks and build a safer future. Across every sector, people are developing solutions, restoring nature and accelerating the transition to clean energy,” the future King stated.
He put stress on the urgency which must be showcased by policymakers across the globe, side by side with optimism for a better tomorrow.
William wrote, “This is what I mean by urgent optimism: seeing the danger clearly while believing in our ability to respond. For the first time in history, our greatest challenge is not inventing the answers. It is deploying and scaling the solutions we already know work.”
The Prince of Wales highlighted the important work done by his passion project , The Earthshot Prize, and pointed out those people involved bringing solutions that are making difference.
It is high time that people come together and work on solutions to “clean our air, fix our climate, revive our oceans, eliminate waste and restore nature,” William stated.
George, Charlotte and Louis’ father rang alarm bells that now is not the time for “inch-by-inch improvements,” but the change must be “systemic and at scale, gives me urgency.”
At the end of his statement, William said, “That is urgent optimism; the confidence to act because we can already see what works, and the determination to take it to the scale this moment demands.
“The wildfires we have witnessed this summer are a reminder of why that matters. We can, and must, make the remainder of this decade count.”
