Prince William and Prince Harry suffered a major emotional setback as memories of their mother, Princess Diana, reopened their wounds.
A new bombshell hit the royal family after Charles Spencer, in his upcoming memoir Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, quoted a phone call between him and Harry’s father.
“‘…we’ll forget her soon enough!'” was said by Charles to Diana’s brother following the tragic death of the People’s Princess.
Now, an insider told Rob Shutter why Charles Spencer took years to publish a book containing material about Diana’s life.
The gossip columnist said that it was Harry’s memoir Spare that could have paved the way for Spencer’s new book.
“Harry didn’t bend the rules — he destroyed them,” the source shared. “Once Diana’s son could publish intimate details about the most powerful members of the family, it became much harder to argue that everyone else was obligated to remain silent.”
Also, an insider blamed Prince William and Prince Harry’s years-long bitter feud that cost them their mother’s legacy.
“There’s a vacuum around Diana now. Her sons are divided, and Spencer understands that gives him an authority he didn’t have before. He isn’t simply Diana’s brother anymore — he can become a custodian of her history,” the source shared.
