King Charles may have made several changes of his own to the age-old traditions of the royal family but they are many that he had wished to uphold.
Prince William has expressed that he would be taking the changes one step further, including one Balmoral tradition, which has been carried by the monarch for almost two centuries.
There are many events that take place in Balmoral before the summer break kicks off. There are several outdoor activities and events including the annual Mey Highland Games in Caithness.
King Charles has often worn the Scottish skirt, the kilt, to honour the culture of the region during these events. Meanwhile, Prince William has kept himself away from the royal tartan since a long time.
It is believed that the last time William wore a kilt was as a young boy, alongside his brother Prince Harry.
William and Catherine hold the title of Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, but his outings and several engagements have proved that the future king has no interest in carrying on the kilt in his reign.
Balmoral has been a very beloved tradition cemented by the late Queen Elizabeth II. While William will still be coming over for his breaks at Balmoral, but he wouldn’t be seen with a kilt on.
