Princess Beatrice, despite maintaining a low profile in the public, is forced to make a decision as an important date nears for the family.
The daughter of disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson will be turning 38 next week, but her celebrations will not mirror the ones of the past.
The King’s niece was known for having extravagant celebrations but in private gatherings. She would also receive public declarations from family on her birthday, especially from her husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi and her sister, Princess Eugenie.
But in the span of a year, things have changed drastically and royal biographer Andrew Lownie reveals that this will be a difficult occasion for Beatrice.
“Much has changed for the York family since Beatrice’s last birthday,” Lownie explained in a piece by the Daily Mail. He noted that her extravagant parties and pricey gifts will be “scaled back” as the scrutiny intensifies.
Beatrice has been facing marital problems since her father was exposed in the Epstein files and her mother Fergie was also associated with him. Andrew is under investigation and Fergie is hiding. Moreover, the royal grace-and-favour homes are also under observation and could be taken away from them.
Her sister Eugenie is currently pregnant, which means that she would not be coming onto social media for a while.
He noted that it is possible the problems could somehow be resolved by her next birthday, but until then, the uncertainty “compounded by ‘the state of her title, her marriage and her business activities’” will force her to hold back celebrations.
