Queen Camilla’s visit to one of London’s most cherished independent bookshops has been revisited as the historic store celebrates an extraordinary milestone.
Mayfair’s renowned Heywood Hill shared a collection of photographs from Her Majesty’s memorable visit in July.
Rather than making a brief ceremonial appearance, Camilla immersed herself in every corner of the business, taking time to discover what has made the bookshop a favourite among readers, collectors and members of the Royal Family for generations.
During the visit, the Queen met members of the experienced team and even took part in one of the shop’s signature reading consultations, experiencing the personalised service offered to subscription customers.
She also tried her hand at wrapping books in the packing department before learning how Heywood sends carefully selected titles to readers across the globe.
Her tour also explored the specialist side of the business, with discussions focusing on rare books and the bespoke private libraries the shop curates for collectors, institutions and book lovers worldwide.
Sharing the photographs on Instagram to celebrate the anniversary, the page thanked customers past and present for their decades of support and described her visit as one of the most memorable moments in its long history.
