Rosario Dawson was supposed to bring a familiar Marvel face to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but fans will never see the scene she filmed.
The actress has revealed that she reprised her beloved role as Claire Temple for a scene in the latest Spider-Man movie, only for the cameo to be removed from the final cut.
She made the surprise revelation while appearing at GalaxyCon in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she was asked which Marvel character she would like Claire to work with.
“Well … I’m going to have to say: I could have said Spider-Man,” the Sin City actress told the audience. “I even shot a scene in the new Spider-Man movie. But I got cut out.”
For her, the scrapped Spider-Manappearance had an added personal significance. She has long had a connection to the web-slinger through her uncle, who was a comic-book artist.
According to the Man in Black II actress, Spider-Man was the first character he learned to draw.
“When I tell you my post was already ready, with my BTS!” she expressed that she had already been preparing to share the experience with her fans.
Then came the email telling her the scene was no longer in the movie.
Dawson, 47, took the setback in stride, joking, “I’m a reject of Spider-Man,” while making it clear that she still feels connected to the wider Marvel universe.
“I really love that. I hope I get to be Claire again,” she added.
For the unversed, Dawson first introduced Claire Temple in Netflix’s Daredevil and went on to reprise the character across Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.
