Sadie Sink’s MCU character finally revealed after months of speculation

Months of fan theories, leaked rumours and endless guessing games are officially over.

Spider-Man: Brand NewDay has finally unveiled Sadie Sink’s long rumoured MCU role, introducing the Stranger Things star as Jean Grey in one of Marvel’s biggest surprises yet.

The film reimagines the iconic X-Men mutant as a mysterious antagonist whose telephatic abilities put Tom Holland’s Spider-Manto the test.

While attempting to infiltrate New York’s Department of Damage Control in search of a mysterious item known as “V-Max,” Jean’s plan is stopped when Spider-Man outsmarts her with an inhibitor chip, setting the stage for what appears to be a much bigger mutant storyline.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton admitted the secrecy was not just for fun–it was essential to the movie.

“I wish everything was a secret,” he told Rolling Stone.

“You’ll see when you watch the movie that there’s a very real reason not to tell people who Sadie Sink is playing. And I don’t think you’ll get mad at it. I think you’ll be like, ‘Oh, I’m glad I didn’t know that.’”

Interestingly, musician Steve Lacy accidentally hinted at the twist days before release.

“You know what? Jean. I like Jean,” he said at the Los Angeles premiere. “She’s the villain, but there’s a reason to her madness.”

With Jean Grey now officially in the MCUand Marvel openly planning its Mutant Saga, the road to the X-Men has never looked clearer.

“We’re constantly changing, constantly evolving… especially with X-Men,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said. “…how do we plan the Mutant Saga in a very grand way?”
