The Salmonella outbreak has hit Southern California and the Central Coast, forcing the state health department to use recall for organic eggs.
The Salmonella outbreak has sickened over 20 people, prompting the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to issue a recall on September 8.
The impacted products were produced by Happy Hens in shell-organic eggs distributed in all grades and in all sizes across Southern California and in restaurants, grocery stores located in Central Coast.
The recalling firm, Happy Hens, is headquartered in Ramona, California.
According to a statement released by the California Department of Public Health, there are three affected lots, carrying an egg handler code of “CA-0677,” lot codes 223, 226, or 237, with sell-by dates from September 10 through 24.
As per the latest updates by the state health officials, there have been 23 cases of Salmonella infection reported in California linked to this recall.
Salmonellosis symptoms can develop seven days after the infection is contracted and trigger stomach cramps and headaches.
The CDPH has urged seeking immediate medical care in case someone develops the signs of Salmonella infection after consuming the recalled eggs.
