Sarah Ferguson is facing an unusual problem after leaving Royal Lodge, with reports suggesting that many of her personal belongings may still be inside the Windsor residence she called home for almost two decades.
The former Duchess of York has kept a notably low profile since leaving the property earlier this year, following the fallout surrounding her former husband, Andrew, and their respective ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Now, Fergie could be forced to return to her former home to decide what happens to the possessions she is believed to have left behind.
Sarah and Andrew were ordered by King Charles to vacate Royal Lodge in February after both lost their remaining royal titles.
While Sarah has largely stayed away from the public eye since her departure, questions have continued to surround where she has settled.
Sarah Ferguson’s life after Royal Lodge
The most recent reports suggest that Sarah may now be in Portugal, where her daughter Princess Eugenie has recently welcomed her third child.
The former Duchess is understood to have remained close to her daughters and grandchildren despite the upheaval surrounding her own living arrangements.
She previously stayed in Switzerland at a property belonging to her close friend and businessman Paddy McNally.
Sarah and McNally dated in the past but remained friends after their relationship ended. McNally died in July 2026 at the age of 88.
