Sombr had a special moment at the VMAs when he wore a jacket which was once owned by George Michael.
The 21-year-old singer joined Raye, Teddy Swims and Adam Lambert for a tribute to the late music star.
Raye sang Knew You Were Waiting, while Teddy performed Careless Whisper. Adam sang Freedom 90 whereas Sombr performed Father Figure and Faith.
While his performance got massive attention, many people also noticed his jacket.
The large leather jacket was once worn by George Michael as he wore it during his 1998 Faith tour and also wore it in a famous Diet Coke commercial.
The jacket however, got studs, pins and a chainmail back as it was also a big part of Sombr’s look as he performed on stage.
Sombr later explained why he chose the special piece.
He called wearing it an “honour” and said he “wished” he could have met Michael.
The singer wore the jacket with some necklaces and leather trousers.
People online loved the tribute. One person called him “What a rockstar”, while another said he “crushed it”.
Someone else wrote, “Pretty darn good,” while another fan said, “They can’t make me hate him.”
Sombr, moreover, was also nominated for Best Art Direction, Song of the Summer and Best Alternative but he didn’t win any.
