Taylor Swift released the song august from her album folklore in July 2020, and has owned the month of August every year since.
The 36-year-old pop superstar had a surge of streams on Spotify ever since the month rolled around, and Swifties began sharing it on social media and listening all over the world.
The song re-entered the Global Spotify chart with 2.02 million streams and climbed on number 56 following the resurgence.
Swifties flocked to the comments celebrating the milestone and wrote, “she invented August so we could live for the hope of it all.”
Another applauded, “She owns this month. Everyone streams it on the first of August!,” and “It’s not August until ‘august‘ starts climbing the charts,” chimed in a third.
More added, “an 8th non single track from her 2020 album did THAT oh tayculture impact,” and “SWIFTMANIA MIGHT BE BACK THIS SMASH HIT.”
One cheered, “they named a month because of a Taylor Swift song.”
