Tom Jones has spoken out after his reported exit from ITV’s The Voice.
The Welsh singer has been a coach on the show for 13 years as he has now made it clear that leaving was not his choice.
Tom said he still loves the show and enjoys being part of it, also adding that ITV told him about the decision only recently.
He wrote: “To be clear, I did not want to leave The Voice as I love the show and really appreciate the audience. ITV made this decision – obviously a while ago – and I was just told recently,”
Tom, however, shared that ITV first gave money problems with insurance as the reason. He then said the network talked about bringing a new look to the show.
He also revealed that he was offered a smaller role, but he did not like the idea.
Tom added: “They are offering a much-reduced role where I would make an appearance but without being actually involved from the start, and I’m not thrilled about that. So the only thing I know right now is that there’s never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who’s still pretty good at his job. Sir Tom Jones.”
Fans, moreover, quickly showed their support, with many saying Tom was the reason they watched the show.
Reports say Aitch and Cheryl could now join the coaching team.
