Tony Romo has been charged with counts following his operating while intoxicated (OWI) arrest in late July in Milwaukee.
Romo, who was arrested by Milwaukee County on allegations of driving a vehicle while intoxicated on July 23, 2026.
The court records show Romo was charged with unsafe passing on the right, possessing open intoxicants, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI).
The charges were filed on Thursday, August 27.
Romo’s family breaks silence and issues a statement through a spokesperson that reads: “Tony accepts full responsibility for his actions and has taken proactive steps to ensure that this isolated civil matter is properly resolved.”
The former Dallas Cowboys QB and CBS NFL analyst was stopped while he was driving on I-43 and performed poorly on field sobriety tests,” according to new body cam footage that surfaced on July 28.
Romo’s parent media outlet, CBS, placed him on indefinite leave on July 31 following his OWI arrest.
CBS Sports president David Berson on August 11 addressed Romo’s arrest, saying, “There’s no timetable for Romo’s return to the broadcast booth.”
Romo’s next hearing is scheduled for September 21, per court records.
