Two men were ejected from their courtside seats during a WNBA matchup between the Las Vegas Aces and the Indiana Fever on Thursday, August 6.
The incident broke out during the third quarter, when Aces guard Jackie Young threw the ball inbounds and waved toward the stands and spoke to a referee at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The game was halted for several minutes with 4:38 left in the quarter.
The security staff at the arena removed a woman, who was seated in the front row directly across from the Aces bench at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse arena tunnel.
Just minutes into her escort out from the arena, she was assisted back to her seat, and the two men who were seated nearby her were removed.
“He was just chirping all game,” Young told the media post-game.
“I let him have it, and then he just made one that was a little bit too far,” she added.
However, Young didn’t disclose what the fans said to her that led to their ejection.
“I think we’ll just keep it in here,” said Young.
The Fever released a statement following the controversy, that reads, “
Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses.”
The franchise insisted that the fan was not removed but instead was “elected to leave,” adding, “Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct.”
