Miley Cyrus shocked fans this week when she changed her social media handles to simply “Miley” and announced her tenth studio album, “Bass Persuades.”
The major reason behind the move is branding and artistic evolution.
In her album announcement, Miley didn’t directly address the name change, but she signed off with a telling message: “Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album. Miley.”
Earlier, icons like Cher, Madonna, Prince, and her godmother Dolly Parton.
Her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, supported her decision, revealing that Miley actually asked for his opinion before making the change, confirming there’s no family rift behind the decision.
He said: “I told Miley yesterday I felt good about her going with her first name. I mentioned Dolly and Cher. Thinkin’ about it more and more… Elvis.. Prince… and so on. It’s a natural progression for an iconic superstar legend.”
He added that he always called her “just Miley” anyway.
Despite past tensions between Miley and her dad following his divorce from her mother, Tish, Billy Ray’s public support proves the decision was mutual and amicable.
“Family means more than ever now,” he wrote.
