Zelda Williams is once again speaking out against AI-generated content depicting her late father, actor and comedian Robin Williams, this time after a fabricated video falsely showed him discussing conspiracy theories.
In a statement posted to X on Monday, September 21, the filmmaker, 37, called out the video directly.
“For those still being duped by falsehoods, that supposedly ‘private video’ of dad that I’ve been shown talking about conspiracies is clearly AI, and not even particularly convincing AI. Anyone who claims to be a fan who believes it clearly listened to his movies on mute because that voice is robotic and terrible.”
Williams didn’t limit her frustration to the people spreading the video, directing sharp criticism at whoever created it in the first place.
“That said, a human made a robot create it, and to you I say: leave him out of your delusional bullshit and let him rest. If you cannot make your case without making a dead man make it more convincing for you, then tell me: who’s the one manipulating the public thru media now?”
This marks at least the third time in roughly a year that Williams has publicly pushed back against AI recreations of her father, who died by suicide in 2014 at age 63.
In October 2025, she posted a similar plea on Instagram, writing, “Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I’ll understand, I don’t and I won’t.”
She went further in that post, criticizing the broader trend of using AI to recreate deceased performers, calling such videos “disgusting over-processed hotdogs” rather than genuine art, and arguing that AI takes “the lives of human beings” and the “history of art and music” and shoves them “down someone else’s throat” purely so creators can chase engagement.
Williams has voiced concerns about AI recreating her father’s likeness since at least 2023, when she said she found it “personally disturbing” to hear AI tools replicate his voice without his ability to consent.
