Zendaya has shared a painful behind-the-scenes story from the set of Dune.
In a recent interview the Euphoriaalum revealed that her fear of needing a bathroom break while wearing the film’s iconic stillsuit led to a severe case of heatstroke.
Speaking candidly about the experience, the 29-year-old admitted she intentionally avoided drinking water during filming because the costume was extremely difficult to remove.
“I had this worry because you kind of had to hike to the locations… wearing the stillsuit, which is very difficult to get out of,” the Challengersactress explained.
According to her, taking a bathroom break wasn’t as simple as stepping away from the cameras.
“If you have to pee, you need at least 10 minutes to get out of your costume. So I was like, ‘I don’t want to drink too much water,'” she recalled.
Her attempt to avoid the inconvenience, however, backfired. “I had such a fear of peeing myself in the stillsuit on set… one day I didn’t drink enough and it was super hot, and then I had terrible heatstroke,” Spider-Manstar Tom Holland’s wife said.
She remembered feeling so ill that she ended up calling her mother while lying on the bathroom floor.
“I remember calling my mom,” The Odysseyactress recalled. “She was like, ‘Did you drink water today?’ And I was like, ‘No.’ I thought I was being smart, so lesson learned.”
Zendaya’s story offers a perspective about the physical demands of filming Denis Villeneuve’s Dunefranchise.
