Carson Daly has moved quickly to clear up any confusion about his future with The Voiceafter NBC announced a new celebrity spinoff of the singing competition with a different host at the helm, confirming he has no plans to leave the flagship series.
NBC unveiled The Voice: Celebrityon 4 August, a new format debuting in spring 2027 that will see actors, musicians, athletes, influencers and other public figures compete for the chance to become the spinoff’s first-ever champion.
The series will be hosted by Keke Palmer rather than Daly, who has fronted every season of the original show since its 2011 premiere, prompting fan speculation about whether he was departing the franchise altogether.
Daly addressed the concern directly on Instagram: “Hiya friends! So today we announced our new upcoming ‘Celebrity’ version of @nbcthevoice. A spin off format of our long running show.”
He went on to distinguish the new format from the “OG format” fans know, explaining: “It’s a new concept than what has aired for 30 seasons… ‘Celeb Voice’ is a fun, NEW IDEA that features some big differences like… FAMOUS PEOPLE singing for 3 coaches to see if they have what it takes. There’s lots of new twists & turns.”
Daly was candid about why he felt stepping aside made sense for this particular format.
“I am not the right host for it. We have a new amazing host! The triple threat queen [Keke Palmer] who is perfect for it!”
He confirmed he’ll remain involved behind the scenes as a producer on the celebrity edition, while continuing his on-air hosting duties for the mainline series, which returns for Season 30 on 21 September with new coaches Queen Latifah and Riley Green joining returning coaches Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson.
The Voice: Celebritywill feature Joe Jonas, Queen Latifah and Riley Green as coaches when it debuts in spring 2027, following Season 31’s regular format later that year.
