Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made headlines around the world when they relocated to Montecito in 2020 after their exit from the royal family.
While their arrival initially brought chaos to the quiet town, it now appears the couple is turning a new chapter — and their community is responding with hope.
The couple’s reported move to return to the UK has brought a renewed sense of optimism to the community.
In conversation with Page Six, one of the Sussexes’ neighbours explained why there was so much noise about the couple’s relocation to the area, saying: “I think people worried about what kind of spotlight that could bring to such a quiet community.”
Now they are ready for a little more peace and quiet after news broke that the Sussexes are moving back to the UK.
A local expressed their true feelings to the outlet, saying, “We’re hearing they’re moving back to the UK, I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
“Montecito is a very private, peaceful place, and I think a lot of people here will be happy to see things go back to being a little quieter,” an insider said.
The Sussexes have planed to fly to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, at the end of the month for an “extended period.”
Harry wants Archie and Lilibet to develop stronger relationships with family and friends in Britain.
