AI to create thousands of $100K construction jobs: Heres how
AI to create thousands of $100K construction jobs: Here’s how

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has resulted in thousands of layoffs as more and more jobs are at risk as companies move toward automation; however, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang appears optimistic that AI might also help create thousands of blue collar jobs.

The chip-making giant’s head said that in the coming years, tens of thousands of six figure construction jobs as “someone” will need to build new AI data centers. Data shows that technology giants are racing to data centers worth $7 trillion by the end of the decade.

Huang said: “It will be the world’s largest infrastructure build-out in human history which will create a lot of jobs.”

Earlier, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in January, Huang expressed similar sentiment. He said: “It’s wonderful that the jobs are related to tradecraft, and we are going to have plumbers and electricians, and construction and steelworkers.”

According to a McKinsey report, the construction workers are already in shortage as the skills needed to construct the “chip, computer and AI factories” are not taught in universities. Some of the roles related to it are already offering $100,000 without a college degree.

However, the report states that around 130,000 trained electricians, 240,000 construction laborers and 150,000 construction supervisors, will be needed only in the US to fill the demand of the AI industry.

Huang said: “Everybody should be able to make a great living. You don’t need to have a PhD in computer science to do so.”
