LONDON: British-Pakistani former Formula racing champion Enaam Ahmed has teamed up with top Formula championship giants to launch a new junior racing initiative to attract more young people towards the sport.
Ahmed helped launch Formula 4 project with business partner Daniel Hazlewood, which began in September 2025 and grew into LN4 Fusion, the new junior racing team co-founded by Formula 1 superstar Lando Norris.
With the team preparing for its first season in 2027, Ahmed said its Cambridge workshop was up and running, with three Formula 4 cars ready to race. He has been involved with the project since the early stages and has helped Hazlewood coordinate the Formula 4 side of the operation.
Ahmed described Hazlewood as the original founder of Fusion and said their main focus had been on getting the British Formula 4 team up and running.
“Daniel and I started in September 2025 with the Formula 4 team in the UK. We were just focused on setting that up. But we had no idea that it would develop so fast and have many more investors come on board to do Formula 3 and aim for Formula 2 also,” he told Truth Wire.
LN4 Fusion is now preparing to compete in Formula 3, Italian Formula 4 and Formula Regional in 2027 and has also applied to enter Formula 2.
Ahmed believes the move into Formula 2 could be close. “I think the team is on the cusp of Formula 2, I think it is very close and nearly there,” he said.
The team’s main European headquarters will be in Veneto, Italy, alongside an operation in Cambridgeshire, Britain. A British Formula 4 testing programme is already running, with a championship entry planned for the future.
The project also means Ahmed is working with Norris again after a friendship that began in junior karting. He recalled that they were teammates when they both won FIA karting world titles in 2014, before racing against each other in Formula 4 and British Formula 3.
“Lando and I have a history as we were both FIA Karting World Champions when we were teammates in 2014,” he said. “It’s been funny seeing each other again as we’ve both aged since we last spoke. Lando will be helping more when he can as he is very busy with his F1 career driving. He will be advising and especially helping to fund young drivers through his legacy programme,” Enaam Ahmed said.
Ahmed is confident the engineering staff can help the new team compete with established rivals from the start.
“I think that the people involved on the engineering side of the team are really the best in the industry, so there is a lot of potential for the team to be competitive straight away.”
Ahmed is known for proudly waving the flag of Pakistan across the world in the Formula racing circuit. He became the first ever Pakistani to be a World Champion in Karting, beating the records of Formula One drivers Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
He is also the British Formula 3 Champion, the first ever high-level Formula Championship winner in the history of Pakistan and beating the record of Ayrton Senna by winning 13 races in one season.
He is now managing many drivers to Formula One with his company. His latest protege is a Dutch Spanish driver called Daniel Miron Lorente who is ranked as one of the best young drivers in the world at his age.
