Danny Glover is speaking publicly about one of the biggest health challenges of his life.
Appearing on the Today Show on Wednesday, July 1, the 79-year-old actor revealed that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease not long after receiving an honorary Oscar in 2022.
Offering a candid look at how he is facing the diagnosis, the Lethal Weapon star said, “I could live with it in a sense.”
He added, “I’m sure as it advances, things are going to be different and changing.”
Despite the difficult road ahead, Glover said he has found strength in those closest to him, praising his family for their unwavering support. He shared that they have “absolutely … got [his] back.”
His daughter, Mandisa Glover, also appeared in the segment and explained why her father wanted to speak openly about his condition.
“What better time but now for him to speak for himself? It’s important because people ask questions sometimes, and I don’t want to be a dishonest person and say, ‘Oh, yeah, everything is all right. It’s all great,’” she said.
Glover has previously been open about other health struggles, including his battle with epilepsy. He experienced his first seizure at 15 and spent the next two decades managing the condition with medication.
