Ed Sheeran been mocked on Saturday Night Live UK as the drama around his recent Macklemore row continues.
Amelia Dimoldenberg took aim at the singer during her opening speech on the show.
While talking about the famous people she has interviewed, Amelia joked about meeting a “red headed puppet” who is told what to say.
“I’ve been incredibly privileged to have done so many interviews with people like Idris Elba, Cher, and even a world famous, red headed puppet with a hand up his a**e telling him what to say.”
A picture of Elmo then appeared on the screen.
Amelia quickly corrected it, saying, “No, the other one,” as a picture of Ed appeared instead.
The joke comes after Ed faced a lot of attention over his decision to remove Macklemore from his Loop Tour.
Macklemore had spoken about Palestine during his performances. He was later removed from the tour, while several other musicians also left.
Ed later spoke about the situation during a concert and became emotional while talking to fans.
He said he did not want his shows to become about politics, but felt he could no longer stay quiet.
Ed also spoke about the suffering in Gaza and said, “What is happening in Gaza is catastrophic and unjustifiable and disproportionate.”
Now, Amelia’s joke has brought the issue back into the spotlight.
