Ed Sheeran opened up about one of the hardest weeks of his career after a fight over Macklemore leaving his tour in trouble.
The singer became emotional during his show in Philadelphia and told the crowd that he was feeling alone as people close to him walked away.
“Everyone is telling me to cancel, and I’m feeling all of my friends and family and people I know abandon me,” he said.
The trouble started after Macklemore spoke about Palestine during a show on Sheeran’s tour. Macklemore was later removed from the tour.
The Perfecthitmaker shared that the decision was made by the tour promoter and venues, not by him.
The situation then led some other musicians to leave the tour as well with Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Beoga and Lukas Graham all saying that they would no longer perform with Sheeran.
Finneas said, “Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed.”
Sheeran said the sudden changes made him wonder if he would even continue with the tour.
“I really didn’t know whether this tour would be carrying on,” he told the crowd.
But thousands of fans still showed up for his Philadelphia concert, giving the singer a different kind of support during a very difficult week.
