FBI agents have seized former Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell’s electric devices amid an ongoing prob into alleged sexual misconduct.
FBI on Saturday, August, 15, at the San Francisco airport, executed a search warrant at his home a day later, per NPR who cited an anonymous source, familiar with the development.
Swalwell, who is a former Democratic congressman from California, is being probed by the FBI over allegations of sexual misconduct.
Swalwell’s lawyer has denied the allegations of sexual assault and misconduct, the outlet added.
The news was first reported by the Daily Mail of Swalwell’s electronics being seized by the FBI on Thursday, August 20.
The seven-time lawmaker was a front-runner in California’s gubernatorial race before he exited after the allegations surfaced.
The Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg acknowledged an ongoing probe in April this year.
The probe started after Swalwell’s former staffer dropped bombshell allegations in an interview with CNN alleging that the former raped her at a hotel while he was in New York City for a charity gala in 2024.
Following after the reports, Swalwell resigned from Congress in April, 2026.
Swalwell, who was raised in Iowa, was elected in 2012 and represented a House district east of San Francisco.
He also had a brief stint running for president in April 2019 but withdrew months later after failing to win over voters.
Amid the FBI probe, Aisha Wahab, a California lawmaker has secured win on Thursday night, August 20, in a special election to serve the remaining House term of Swalwell, which ends in January.
