A Ferrari supercar has been reduced to a mangled wreck after its driver lost control in wet conditions on the M602 motorway in Salford, Greater Manchester.

The red Ferrari 296, which is usually sold between £240,000 and £260,000 before optional extras, was crushed in the incident on Sunday, August 30.

As reported by Greater Manchester Police, the driver miraculously escaped without injury.

The injuries sustained by the performance car were significant, with its hood having been smashed together into one heap of crumpled metal. One of its wheels was deformed while the other had been torn off. Its famous yellow Ferrari logo was still visible even amid the wreckage.

The images of the destroyed supercar were shared on social media with a stark warning to other drivers. The police posted on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Unfortunately there’s one less Ferrari 296 in the world this morning after the driver of this one lost control in the wet on the M602 in Salford.”

“No injuries luckily but please drive to the conditions for everyone’s sake,” they added.

The accident is a reminder of the risks of operating a fast car when the weather is bad. This Ferrari 296 can go faster than 200mph; thus, it is hard to control during such weather conditions.

No details about the identity of the driver and whether other cars were involved in the accident have been released by the police. The M602, which is one of the important routes that leads to Manchester, has been operational after the accident without any significant disruption.

This particular supercar accident comes after a series of other accidents involving expensive cars in Greater Manchester in the recent past. Examples include the Lamborghini accident in Battersea and the £100k supercar accident that ended in a jail term for the driver.
