Taylor Swift is known as the Zodiac Killer among her fandom because of her well-placed clues which she releases years in advance, for fans to figure out, and the same happened with The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore.
The 36-year-old pop superstar seems to have been hinting at the project way before The Life of a Showgirlalbum was released, and even though fans formed theories at the time, they were left scrambling for answers.
However, now that the announcement has been made, Swifties are decoding the Easter Eggs that were hiding in plain sight.
Fans noted that the Opalite music video displayed a signboard which read, “Patient for the encore,” and flocked to social media to discuss.
One Swiftie wrote, “so it’s been there all along…,” while another added, “It was literally right in our faces! she is a bloody mastermind.”
A third chimed in, “Omg I’m WAITING.”
Another noted how her recent Emmys Law & Order sketch had also been a hint for the Encore, writing, “Every 3rd letter of ‘saccharide Aries from the Vineyard north or south’ spells out encore when you unscramble it.”
While one connected the Opalite music video to the Exit sign theory which also perplexed fans at the time of Showgirl‘s release, “‘PLEASE LEAVE’ = EXIT. ALL THE EXIT SIGNS WE BEEN SEEING. THE ENCORE MENTION BEING IN THIS FRAME. WE WERE MEANT TO COME BACK TO THIS. WALK WITH ME.”
A Swiftie explained, “in the opalite mv there’s a sign that says “patient for the encore” and an encore is an additional part at the end of a concert, usually called for by the audience but nowadays can just be the last section,” and “so ‘patient for the encore’ DID mean something.”
Taking a sigh of relief another fan added, “The theories makers are cheering as they nailed the Encore part.”
The Encorewill be released on Friday, September 5, along with the single, Patient Zero.
