Jared Leto has strongly denied allegations of sexual assault and misconduct made by 10 women in a new BBCdocumentary, calling the claims “absolutely and categorically false” in a statement issued through his representatives.
The hour-long documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, aired Wednesday and features accounts from 10 women, nine of whom the BBCsays are sharing their stories publicly for the first time.
Four of the women accuse Leto of criminal sexual conduct, alleging incidents that took place between 2002 and 2016, when Leto, now 54, was in his 30s and 40s; three of the women say they were under 18 at the time of the alleged incidents.
One woman alleges she was assaulted in a motel bathroom when she was 17, and says she was later presented with a non-disclosure agreement regarding the alleged relationship, which she declined to sign; the BBCsays it has reviewed the document.
Other allegations described in the documentary include claims of sexually explicit phone calls made to teenage girls and a comment two men who worked with Leto’s band say they found troubling about his interactions with underage fans, with one telling the BBC: “I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big.”
Leto responded to the allegations in a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter.
“I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”
According to reporting on the documentary, Leto did not respond to requests for comment during its production.
This is not the first time Leto has faced public allegations of this kind. In June 2025, the newsletter Air Mailreported separate misconduct claims from nine women, allegations Leto also denied at the time.
Leto, an Academy Award winner for Dallas Buyers Cluband frontman of the band Thirty Seconds to Mars, has continued to take on major studio roles in recent years, including a supporting part in this year’s Masters of the Universeand a leading role in last year’s Tron: Ares.
