Josh Richardson, who had two stints with the Miami Heat in his 10-year NFL career, announced surprise career move.
Richardson shared a post on his Instagram handle and called it quits on his NBA career spanning over a decade.
He played six of his 10 NBA seasons with the Heat, announced a retirement on Wednesday, July 29.
“I always gave my best, that’s why I can say this with no regret,” Richardson penned in the post.
“I am grateful to have been able to love this game and it love me back as much as it did. It wasn’t set up for me at any point in my career,” he continued.
Richardson says goodbye to his fans from the court and concludes the post, “All my fans, coaches and teammates, I hope I left a good impression and a positive view of me.”
Soon after Richardson shared post, NBA legend Dwyane Wade shared a heartfelt response that says it all.
Wade’s response steals the spotlight, who slid in the comments section and wrote, “The coolest. I loved going into the trenches with you, young fella.”
Richardson, an Edmond, Oklahoma, born, was a second-round pick of the 2015 NBA Draft.
He appeared for 554 career regular games for the Heat (2015-19, 2023-2024), Philadelphia 76ers (2019-20), Dallas Mavericks (2020-21), Boston Celtics (2021-22), Spurs (2021-23), and New Orleans Pelicans (2022-23).
Richardson hung up his boots with career averages of 11.5 points, 2.6 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game.
