Kelly Osbourne has made it clear: if you’re going to talk about Ozzy Osbourne, expect his daughter to have something to say.
The 41-year-old pushed back at Twisted Sisterfrontman Dee Snider after he questioned claims about who wrote lyrics for her late father’s music.
The debate began when Snider disputed bassist Bob Daisley’s songwriting contributions to Ozzy’s solo work, writing on X: “‘A load’? How about ALL the lyrics? Ozzy always had bass players write his lyrics.”
Snider also credited Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler and late Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister for writing lyrics connected to Ozzy and Sabbath.
Kelly was not impressed.
“My father’s legacy as a musician, songwriter, singer and bandleader speaks for itself. His friends, those who worked with him, those who love him, and millions of fans around the world that still continue to buy his records know exactly what he meant what he contributed and what he leaves behind. His legacy will live on eternally,” she wrote on Instagram Stories.
Then came the sharper words.
“There’s something spectacularly classless about Dee Snider trying to diminish my father Ozzy Osbourne and his extraordinary abilities and achievements when he is no longer here to challenge his allegations,” Kelly wrote.
She also pointed to the vastly different lengths of their careers, noting Ozzy’s nearly six decades in music.
“My father doesn’t need Dee Snider’s approval to establish his place in music history,” she added. “And trying to make my father smaller won’t make Dee Snider bigger.”
Snider later clarified that he meant no disrespect.
“And again. To be clear, I HAVE NOTHING BUT LOVE FOR OZZY,” he wrote, adding that Black Sabbath “changed my life.”
Kelly remained unconvinced, calling it a “backhanded compliment” and delivering one final message:
“So, in the immortal spirit of Will Smith: keep my father’s name out of your f***ing mouth.”
Ozzy died at 76 on July 22, leaving behind a legacy spanning Black Sabbath, a hugely successful solo career and The Osbournes.
