The royal family gathering at the Buckingham Palace balcony is always a treasure trove of small gestures and moments which give a rare insight into the close and not-so-close relationship they share.
King Charles is often dubbed as the doting grandfather and insiders have shared that the children are fond of their grandpa. Insiders have also shared how the monarch holds a special place for his granddaughter, Charlotte.
As the royals took to the balcony on Saturday to watch the flypast, one such moment was decoded by a lip reader for fans who may have missed the sweet details.
Charlotte, who is considered a mirror of her mum Princess Kate, follows royal protocol impeccably despite being only 11. So, when the young royal asked for a cue, the King was happy to reply.
“Time to wave?” Charlotte asked turning around as the flypast went by, according to lip reader Jeremy Freeman, via The Mirror.
Charles acknowledged, “Very good. Now we give a wave.”
Prince William then added, “Wave to everyone. Cheerio. That’s right, thank you very much.”
Prince Louis, often the cheeky one at royal public events asked, “Is there more?”
To which, the father of three assured, “No, that’s it. Go on wave, that’s it.”
