King Charles was there in spirit, with his emotional message at a ceremony remembering those who passed away tragically.
The monarch sent his heartfelt sympathies to all those who suffered in the Manchester synagogue terror attack.
The King’s personal message was read out by Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester Eamonn O’Neal to the congregation.
Charles wrote, “My wife and I hold all those whose lives were so tragically disrupted by that terrible day most closely in our thoughts and prayers.
“Though the months have passed, the sense of shock and sorrow remains undiminished.
“I shall never forget my visit to the synagogue shortly afterwards. It was a deeply moving and heartbreaking experience.
“To meet those who had been present that morning, and to hear their personal accounts of what they had experienced, was profoundly moving and troubling.”
King Charles paid tribute to the community’s strength, resilience and determination, which stand united in dark times as well.
King Charles’ tearful wishes in his new message came at a time when Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet were set to begin school in the UK.
