There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the next plan of action for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson’s daughters as scrutiny intensifies from the taxpayers.
Reports had claimed that King Charles holds a soft corner for Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie and he doesn’t want them to suffer the consequences their parents’ shameful actions.
Hence, Eugenie’s pregnancy announcement signalled that the sisters were still under the protection of the monarch. However, there was a stark difference in how the Palace shared the royal birth news for the world.
Royal expert Emma Shacklock pointed out that the King has cleared the air about the relations Eugenie and Beatrice hold with the wider family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Prince William had allegedly warned his father to not be lenient towards the York sisters as it could have an impact on the monarchy’s reputation. But the “careful” choice of words paints a different story.
“Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news,” the statement had read.
The Palace is well-aware of the impact its words hold or the public, hence the use of “other members of The Royal Family” was not a coincidence. It emphasised that Eugenie and Beatrice are still close with the wider family.
“The use of capital letters also makes it sound very official and makes me think of working royals like the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh,” Emma explained.
Moreover, since Andrew is no longer a prince, he was subtly excluded from the phrase not to say that he wouldn’t have been told or be delighted about his granddaughter’s birth.
