A female juror from Lindsay Clancy has defended the lone holdout out of the total 12, while making a surprising confession that he wasn’t the only one who thought that Clancy should face justice for killing her three children.

The jury was made up of 9 women and 3 men and all except one agreed that she was not guilty by reason of insanity in January 2023; however, one male juror refused to agree with the acquittal.

Now, another juror, who served as no.5 in the trial and spoke on conditions of anonymity said: “The majority of the people, it doesn’t matter what side it was on, was very firm in their like stance and their beliefs kind of from the beginning.”

The female juror added that initially she also believed Clancy should face the law and was guilty, adding, “She was someone that was in the throes of a significant mental health crisis.”

However, she said her opinion changed as the jury went through the evidence and discussed whether Clancy could understand that her actions were wrong at the time of the killings.

“At the end of the day, there was so much doubt,” she said.

Clancy admitted killing her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and eight-month-old Callan, at their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023.

Her lawyers argued that the mother was suffering from postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible for the killings. Prosecutors, however, maintained that she knew what she was doing.

The trial ended in a mistrial last week after more than 38 hours of deliberations, with the jury unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

The lone holdout has since faced criticism from some fellow jurors, but Juror No. 5 said he was not alone in refusing to quickly move from his original position.

Clancy remains at a psychiatric hospital as prosecutors decide whether to try her again.
