Klay Thompson was set free by the Dallas Mavericks, which paved the way for a two-year contract with the Miami Heat.
The five-time NBA All star has inked a two-year deal with the Mavericks valued at $13 million after clearing waivers after reaching a buyout settlement with Dallas on Friday, August 21.
Thompson, a four-time NBA star who is likely to be inducted as Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer, is all geared up to dazzle with the Miami Heat for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season.
Thompson has long been viewed as one of the NBA’s premier 3-point shooters.
Earlier, it was reported that Thompson was set to sign a $17 million contract in the final season of his contract with Dallas before the two sides reached a buyout settlement.
Thompson, 36, appeared in two seasons for the Mavericks, averaging 12.9 points and shooting 38.7% from three-point range.
Last season, Thompson moved past Damian to take over fourth place in career three-pointers made, currently standing at 2,899.
Thompson spent 13 seasons with the Golden State Warriors, he was acquired by the Mavericks in a sign-and-trade deal after the 2023-24 season.
He played the next two seasons in Dallas, averaging 12.9 points over 141 regular-season games.
