Megan Moroney’s Denver show didn’t make it past song three. The country singer stopped mid-set at Ball Arena on Tuesday night, visibly emotional and walked off stage.
Fans in the crowd could tell something was off before any announcement came. Video shared online shows Moroney fighting back tears as she told the audience she wanted to give them the show they deserved, and that she was sorry.
One person in the crowd yelled back that it was okay, that they loved her.
A short time later, Ball Arena posted a statement saying Moroney couldn’t continue the performance due to illness and that the show would have to end there. The venue said more details would follow on its website.
Moroney posted her own message on Instagram not long after. She called it the hardest decision she’d ever had to make. By the third song, she said, she knew she wasn’t able to give fans a show at full strength, and she wasn’t willing to give them anything less.
She didn’t say what the illness actually was.
The Denver stop has been rescheduled for August 27. Anyone holding a ticket from Tuesday’s show can use it for the new date, or ask for a refund at the point of purchase.
This is Moroney’s biggest tour yet. It kicked off back in May in Columbus, Ohio, and runs through October, with stops still ahead in Nashville, New York, Los Angeles, and eventually across Europe, including Paris, London, and Belfast.
Her next scheduled date is August 1 in Portland, though it’s not yet clear if she’ll be well enough by then.
The tour is behind her third album, Cloud 9, which hit number one on the Billboard 200 back in March, her first time topping the chart.
