Meghan Markle was all set to make a big buck when she landed back on British soil but her dreams for a big show may have been shattered.
Just 24 hours after it was revealed that Meghan would be making her full-fledged acting comeback with her UK move, the whole plan seemed to have been bowled over.
It was reported that Harry and Meghan had decided to return to England as Meghan had landed an acting job at Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix series, The Gentleman.
The Duchess of Sussex was to join the upcoming third season of the show – a role worth more than £1million, The Sun on Sundayreported.
However, former Tatlerand Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown, who is known to be well-connected in the US showbiz circles, revealed that the lucrative deal is “off”.
“Newsflash: I have heard that Meghan Markle’s role in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen is OFF. Public backlash was too fierce. This does not bode well for Meghan’s acting comeback in the UK.”
Meghan had been in advanced talks for the role, and officially it was never confirmed from neither the showrunners nor the former Suits actress.
“Meghan will be getting at least £1million for a role on The Gentlemen, perhaps even more,” a source told The Sun.
“Signing her would be a major coup for the show’s bosses and it would absolutely be worth parting with a sizeable fee.”
