Nene Royal’s journey from Thailand to the America’s Got Talent stage has been a special one for the young singer.
The 16-year-old from Phuket started learning guitar when she was just seven.
She mostly learned playing the guitar by herself after watching videos online and listening to songs. Nene later started playing at markets in Phuket, where more people started noticing her talent.
Her big chance came when she auditioned for America’s Got Talent with The Cranberries’ Zombie.
The young star sang while playing guitar and received a yes from all four judges.
Nene then returned for the next round with Muse’s Hysteria as her next performance was even bigger.
She sang Soundgarden’s Black Hole Sun during the live quarterfinals. Her performance impressed Mel B so much that the judge pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending Nene straight to the final.
For the final, Nene stayed with the rock music that took her so far where she performed Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes.
She also got another huge moment when she performed with Linkin Park during the results show.
Nene has now become the first Thai winner of America’s Got Talent as her journey from playing guitar in Phuket to winning on a huge American stage has made her story even more special.
