Norway’s King Harald passed at the age of 89 after suffering from a rare blood condition.
According to the Norwegian Royal Family, the King died peacefully at 06:35 local time on Friday at the national hospital in Oslo.
King Harald was hospitalised due to declining health from hemolytic anaemia since mid-August.
Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, and His Majesty’s 94-year-old sister, Princess Astrid, gathered around his bedside yesterday as his health deteriorated.
His son Haakon will succeed him.

King Harald was Europe’s oldest reigning monarch and Head of State. He served as King of Norway for over 35 years.
