Prince Harry’s first and surprising reaction to Earl Spencer’s bombshell book on the life of Princess Diana has finally been revealed.
During a detailed conversation with People, Diana’s brother shared that the Duke of Sussex is “completely fine” about it.
However, he asked his uncle if any ’embarrassing’ story of him was mentioned in the book.
The magazine asked Spencer when he informed Harry and Prince William about the book and their possible responses to it.
Earl Spencer shared, “I told them at the same time, and all I would say is one was… So all four of them [William and Harry and Sarah and Jane], I told them exactly the same time.
“And I can say that Harry is completely fine about it. He said, I hope there’s nothing embarrassing about him in it. I said, “There isn’t.”
“I think they were actually worried about where I was going up to with the book. It pretty much ends in 1997 with Diana’s death, and there’s a tiny postscript by the grave. So I think there was this, “Gosh, what’s he written about?” And I think it’s natural that people in the public eye are concerned about how they will come across in the book.”
Earl Spencer sent a reassuring message to his beloved nephews that they do not need to be worried, as they were only portrayed in the Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, as “two little boys who had the most exceptional mother, I’m not in any way compromising their privacy at all.”
The 62-year-old was also asked about the concerns William and Harry might have about the portrayal of their father, King Charles, in the book.
He said, “Yeah, that was a concern. I mean, I don’t want this to sound loaded, but there was an awful lot I could have put in, and I didn’t.”
Once again, Earl Spencer claimed that he knows a lot about the monarch, which “would really be a jaw-dropper, but I’m not here to do that.”
