Princess Kate’s heartfelt moments at the Commonwealth Games continue to capture attention.
SportsAid, where the Princess of Wales has served as patron since 2013, shared photographs from Saturday’s Glasgow visit, sharing her meeting with young sporting hopefuls at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome alongside Prince William.
The royal couple spent time learning about the Team England Futures programme, an initiative delivered by SportsAid to help prepare emerging athletes and coaches for future international competitions.
During the visit, Kate met SportsAid Chief Executive Tim Lawler MBE, Head of Programmes Alice Radford, Team England Futures athletes Jessica Anderson and Isla Pain, as well as Olympic cycling legend Dame Laura Kenny.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the foundation praised the Princess for her support.
The charity also revealed the remarkable impact of its work, with nearly three-quarters of Team England athletes competing at the 2026 Commonwealth Games having previously received SportsAid backing during the early stages of their careers.
Earlier in the day, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh also visited the programme, meeting several aspiring athletes and hearing how the initiative is preparing the next generation of Team England, Team GB and ParalympicsGB competitors.
Kate’s appearance in Glasgow also generated widespread discussion after footage emerged of her sharing a lengthy and deeply attentive conversation with Olympic cycling icon Sir Chris Hoy.
While Prince William led Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis towards their waiting car, the Princess remained behind, continuing her conversation with the six-time Olympic champion.
Sir Chris revealed in 2024 that he is living with terminal stage 04 prostate cancer after first being diagnosed the previous year.
Kate completed chemotherapy following her own cancer diagnosis, appeared fully engaged as the pair spoke quietly together, prompting many to believe they were sharing a deeply personal conversation shaped by their experiences.
