Marvel Studios has finally announced who’s gonna be White Queen in the “X-Men” reboot.
Samara Weaving has been tapped to play Emma Frost in the movie.
“The Ready or Not” actor secured the part after an extensive search process involving director Jake Schreier and president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige meeting many contenders. The audition given by Weaving right after Independence Day was too good to be beat.
Weaving will be the third actress to have played the role of the diamond-skinned telepath in a movie, after Tahyna Tozzi from “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and January Jones from “X-Men: First Class” and “Days of Future Past.”
The news comes as Marvel silently searches for its new team of mutants.
In the same week, Sadie Sink has made her first appearance as Jean Grey in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” raking in an unprecedented $72 million on its opening previews.
The evolution of Emma Frost is quite fascinating in comics history since she first appeared in the 1980s. She has gone through many changes from being a supervillain and Hellfire Club member to becoming a member of the X-Men and a mentor.
This upcoming movie gained significant attention last spring when Schreier, who directed last year’s “Thunderbolts”, was tapped to helm the project. The script is penned by “Beef” creator Lee Sung Jin and “The Bear” co-creator Joanna Calo.
