Sarah Ferguson, living in self-imposed exile, is said to be finding distance the hardest test after Buckingham Palace and Jack Brooksbank’s announcement of Princess Eugenie’s third child.
This newest grandchild enters a family shaped by very different circumstances from those of his or her older siblings.
Andrew and Ferguson have shared precious time with August and Ernest, building memories as devoted grandparents.
This time, however, the doors reportedly remain closed. The fallout from past controversies and renewed media scrutiny over their connections with the late convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein have forced them to keep their distance.
Some royal experts and close friends claim Sarah is finding it very difficult to stay away. Few believe she has been by Eugenie’s side since the pregnancy was announced earlier this year.
Yet Sarah’s current whereabouts remain unconfirmed. She was last seen outside the UK, leaving questions about whether a grandmother’s heart will obey the boundaries set before it.
Reports claimed that she was staying in Switzerland at a property owned by her close friend, businessman Paddy McNally. She used to date Paddy, who passed away at the age of 88 in July 2026, and the pair remained close before his death.
Another report revealed she had previously been staying in Austria, and was photographed at the £14,000-a-week MayrLife Clinic back in March before a 90-day limit on staying in the European Union ran out.
One reprots suugests Fergie spent several months in the United Arab Emirates, where she was believed to be at the time of Andrew’s arrest.
Before her trip to the UAE, she was said to have spent a few days with friends in the French Alps ahead of seeking out some winter sun.
Sarah was supposedly spending time with Eugenie, who was seen in Doha, Qatar attending the Basel art fair in her capacity as director of art gallery Hauser & Wirth.
She is also reported to have spent some time at the Paracelsus Recovery Clinic in Zurich, Switzerland, which she previously described as a “safe harbour in the storms of life”.
Thare are also speculations and claims that she won’t be moving in with him to the new house on the Sandringham Estate.
She won’t be moving into Beatrice’s Cotswolds home though. Eugenie’s home in Portugal is a contender while she finds somewhere.
Royal expert Phil Dampier recently suggested that Sarah will want to try and get back in with the King for the sake of her daughters.
