Scream VI star Melissa Barrera led heartfelt tributes shortly after it was announced that her co-star Hayden Panettiere has passed away at the young age of 36.
Barrera, who played Sam Carpenter in the sixth movie, took to her Instagram Stories, writing “Rest in peace sweet Hayden.”
For the unversed, the two starred together in the 2023 slasher, with Panettiere returning as Kirby Reed, the character she first played in 2011’s Scream 4.
As the Heroesstar’s representative issued a statement, confirming the heartbreaking news, Selma Blair rushed to the late actress’s social media account and left a series of emotional messages on her final Instagram post.
“I love you. Don’t be gone. Don’t be gone. Please. Please,” the 54-year-old wrote under last the post.
In a later comment, she added, “I love you whale tail my friend,” followed by another message, which read, “I’m dying. Please be here.”
The Remember The Titansactress’s final post, shared on 27 July, showed her smiling alongside her friend, photographer and director Randall Slavin.
Slavin later reposted the black-and-white image to his Instagram Stories, writing, “Peace be with you, H.”
7th Heaven’s Beverley Mitchell described the former Nashvillestar as a “bright light” as she penned an emotional tribute.
“Praying the news is wrong! You are such a bright light and soooo loved!!!!” she wrote in a comment on Panettiere’s final Instagram post, expressing grief.
Rosie O’Donnell shared a photo of the I Love You, Beth Cooperactress from the 2006 film Bring It On: All or Nothingwith a caption that read, “Oh my god – heartbroken”.
Singer JoJo described the news of Panettiere’s death as “devastating”, adding, “I am so sorry to hear of her passing. Oh my god.”
