Pima County officials made public the much-debated ransom after six months into 8-year-old Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
Today show host Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared in the early hours of February 2026 at her $1 million Tucson home.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office released a pair of ransom notes on Friday, July 31, 2026.
According to the sheriff’s office, the two notes share a “unique linguistic style” and are assumed to have been penned by the same writer.
The ransom letter comes amid hopes someone might recognise the author of the letter.
So far, investigators have not ruled out the authenticity of these letters.
These ransom notes were dropped on February 2 and 6, 2026.
The notes in question included references to the crime scene, including information about Guthrie’s Apple Watch and broken floodlight in her backyard.
The sheriff’s department has sought public help, anyone knows about the whereabouts of missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, they can dial 1-800 or call -FBI or, to remain anonymous, call 520-88-CRIME.
The latest development comes after Savannah Guthrie posted shared family agony in another video appeal on July 27, saying, I’m asking you, begging you, to do the right thing now.”
